Efficient information management is critical to the success of construction projects, enhancing organisational performance, promoting project efficiency, and ensuring timely delivery. However, the construction sector faces significant challenges, including poor documentation, insufficient professional training, and reliance on outdated information systems, which impede its effectiveness. This study aims to assess the challenges of information management in construction project management within the South African construction sector. Using a quantitative research methodology, the study employed a descriptive survey approach to collect data through structured questionnaires. Purposive sampling was adopted to target key stakeholders in Gauteng Province- South Africa, such as architects, quantity surveyors, engineers, and construction managers. A total of 80 responses retrieved from 95 respondents were analysed using mean item scores and standard deviations to evaluate the identified challenges. The findings revealed that the most critical challenges are poor financial investment in data management infrastructure, inadequate documentation practices, and lack of training for skilled professionals. Based on the findings, the study recommended targeted investments in ICT infrastructure and the adoption of robust documentation practices to enhance data accessibility and accuracy. The study provides a foundational understanding of barriers to information management in construction, contributing to strategies for improved project outcomes.
