Ghana is facing rapid urbanisation, leading to the swift development of construction projects to meet societal needs. Construction industry activities are known for their significant impact on the environment. Hence, there is a need for growing awareness of nature-based solutions in the industry. Therefore, the study explored the drivers influencing the adoption of nature-based solutions (NBS) in the Ghanaian construction industry. A quantitative research method was adopted for the study. The respondents were construction professionals in Ghana, which included architects, project managers, planners, quantity surveyors, construction managers, and civil engineers. Using a random sampling technique, 102 responses were gathered from the closed-ended questionnaire administered through Google Forms. Study findings indicate that diverse drivers are important for enhancing the implementation of nature-inspired solutions in the construction industry. They include advancement in design and implementation, planning policies and urban design guidelines, and community support for green spaces, among others. Furthermore, when properly addressed, these drivers promote a drive towards a greener construction industry in Ghana by implementing nature-inspired initiatives. The study was limited to construction professionals in the cities of Accra and Kumasi in Ghana, serving as the limitation. Also, using questionnaires may introduce bias, as responses may be influenced by their personal experiences. The study concludes that the identified drivers significantly influence the adoption of nature-inspired solutions through various mechanisms, leading to more sustainable environmental practices in the construction industry. Ultimately, this, in turn, moves the construction industry towards a resilient, sustainable, and innovative practice.
