Sustainable construction practices, defined as methods that reduce envi- ronmental impacts, enhance social well-being, and ensure economic sustainability, have become increasingly critical in construction. This study investigates the chal- lenges of implementing sustainable construction practices and their impact on project management efficiency, with a focus on challenges common in developing countries. Structured interviews with professionals in the industry were used to collect data for a qualitative research technique, which was then analysed thematically and content. A case study analysis provided deeper insights into real-world applications of sustainable practices. Key challenges identified include significant initial costs, a lack of technical skills, and resistance to change. Findings from the case study and interviews highlighted those targeted strategies, such as stakeholder engagement and government support, significantly enhanced project outcomes Adopting sustainable practices in infrastructure projects, for instance, cutting down on waste while raising operational efficiency. This study provides actionable recommendations, including enhanced stakeholder collaboration, policy incentives, and the integration of advanced technologies like Building Information Modeling (BIM). These strategies not only encourage the incorporation of sustainability into project management but also improve resource utilization and long term efficiency. The findings contribute valuable insights for policymakers and industry professionals seeking to advance sustainability in construction projects, particularly within the context of developing countries.
