The construction industry in South Africa has been a remarkable success story over the past two decades, playing a pivotal role in the country's economic stability amidst political and social challenges. While significant progress has been made, there's a growing recognition of the need to embrace technological advancements, particularly in the face of global trends. Digital technology is reshaping industries worldwide, and South Africa's construction sector is no exception. Despite being predominantly reliant on manual labor, there's a pressing need to catch up with the technological advancements of other nations. The challenge lies not in the potential benefits of technology, but rather in fostering its acceptance and integration within the industry. This research aims to explore the types of digital technologies adopted by South African construction industry. This study is based on a literature review aimed at identifying the digital technologies utilized in the South African construction industry. According to existing literature, the technologies currently adopted include Building Information Modelling (BIM), Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), drones, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and data management.
