Understanding Behavioral Intention to Adopt Digital Payments: A TAM Framework Study in the Context of India’s Response to the Past Pandemics
摘要
Due to its convenience, reliability, and contactless nature, mobile payment (M-payment) has been widely embraced in India during the past pandemic. This implementation aims to reduce direct and indirect interactions in transactions, enabling social distancing and promoting stability in the social economy. The study seeks to examine the factors influencing behavioral intentions to use digital payment methods in India, specifically in light of the future pandemic. The study used stratified random sampling to choose 385 respondents as the sample size for the investigation. Data is collected using structured questionnaires and in-person administration, primary data on payment behavior, social variables, demographics, and other elements as mentioned in the technology acceptance model (TAM) framework. The findings underscored the substantial impact of the pandemic notion in accelerating the adoption of digital payments, particularly due to the perceived ease of use as well as perceived utility in shaping customers’ intentions. In conclusion, the study, delving into the behavioral intention to adopt digital payments in India, specifically in light of the future pandemic, contributes significant insights into the evolving landscape of financial transactions.
