The paper addresses the topic of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and the methods and IT tools supporting the implementation of this methodology during detailed product analysis. At the beginning of the article, an analysis of the literature and ISO 14040x standards regulating the LCA methodology was made. Then a study was described and conducted to assess the level of life cycle impact of a table lamp on the natural environment using an IT system. Then, proposals were presented for improving the product, comparing the obtained results with the basic version of the product and selecting the option that causes the least negative environmental impact. The research was based on the guidelines and recommendations contained in the ISO 14040x group of standards. The IMPACT 2002+ method implemented in SimaPro software was used to carry out life cycle impact assessment. The final step is to draw conclusions and select the option that is least harmful to the environment.
