The excessive use of force by police and armed forces represents a problem in most Latin American countries. This book brings together works from various researchers of the Monitor on the Use of Lethal Force with three main objectives. The first is to disseminate the methodology of the Monitor as a way to measure the use and abuses of force in other countries. It seeks to offer  an analysis tool on lethal force for academics, students, activists or journalists. The second is to make known the serious situation of abuse of lethal force in Latin America and the Caribbean, summarizing the indicators that have been published over the years. The third is to delve into relevant issues related to the use of lethal force in each country. The book includes chapters from Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Colombia and Chile that analyse data and specific contexts regarding the use and abuse of Lethal Force.
