We live in a world of change. Many of us have difficulty keeping up with the accelerating pace of change driven by new technologies and contentious geopolitics. Yet the current direction of change is deeply troubling. Human activities are contributing to the degradation and loss of nature, the acceleration of climate change, threats to oceans and ice cover, and growing inequality. When we add to these the increasing risks of reaching irreversible biophysical tipping points, the current pace and direction of change is extremely dangerous.
