Hand fractures are among the most common fractures in the upper extremity and include metacarpal and phalangeal fractures. A majority of these fractures are managed nonoperatively, although some require operative intervention. Hand fractures are typically associated with falls on outstretched hands and can also include ligamentous and tendinous injuries.
