Eyelid reconstruction is an important procedure within the scope of plastic surgery as the eyelids play a crucial role in not only maintaining a physical barrier to foreign bodies of the eye but also the overall health and maintenance of the ocular surface. Improper repair can lead to damage to the delicate tissues that comprise the ocular surface and can have a significant effect on the patients overall visual prognosis. The following chapter aims to provide the important anatomical structures of the orbit that are involved with eyelid reconstruction as well as a collection of the common techniques used to repair and reconstruct the various eyelid defects.
