As Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) continues to evolve, its integration into higher education is transforming teaching and learning methods. This chapter examines how GenAI enhances personalized learning (PL) by improving adaptability, engagement, and instructional support. It begins with an overview of PL and explores how students utilize GenAI technologies. The discussion then addresses key challenges and ethical concerns, including student dependency, academic integrity, and the need to develop critical AI literacy. Additionally, the chapter positions GenAI as a mindtool that facilitates generative learning, emphasizing its role in enhancing and augmenting learning rather than replacing the learning process. An AI-Assisted Personalized Learning Framework is introduced, outlining three types of learning interactions with AI. The chapter concludes with recommendations for leveraging GenAI to foster dynamic, learner-centered educational experiences that promote meaningful learning.
