Surabaya is a metropolitan city with massive modernist development but many historical areas. There are several historical areas that are not maintained, so the image becomes blurry due to changes in the faces of the buildings. With various conditions and facade designs, making regulations to maintain and improve the image of the existing area for each infill building will be difficult. Therefore, a holistic method for the new building is needed to remain in style according to the local historical architectural appearance. Based on this problem, the proposed algorithmic method is used to solve the problem quickly and precisely. This combination of methods: architectural typology and shape grammar analysis, will be a novel method. In the end, all the shapes of the facade elements were rearranged to create a combined historical-style appearance scheme. Not only does it use algorithmic methods, but the output scheme is also in the form of an algorithm. This combined scheme can be a guideline to avoid mismatches that affect building esthetics for new building designers and owners. This proposed method will later be a universal concept in urban heritage for sustainable visual conservation. With emphasis on data process steps, this research can become a reference for applications in other locations.

摘要
