Assessment of the Highway Network of International Importance of the Republic of Uzbekistan
摘要
Due to historical, geographical, and geo-economic factors, road transport in the Republic of Uzbekistan plays a special role in the country’s economy. The determining factor in a country’s transit potential is the condition of roads of international importance. The length of international roads is more than 9% of all roads in use. Roads of international importance provide 40% of automobile transport and 100% of international cargo and passenger vehicles. In this research, the authors used the PKR 2 laser profilometer to measure the smoothness of international roads in the Republic of Uzbekistan. This is the first study of its kind to be conducted on a national scale. The authors created coded maps of the level of smoothness of roads of international importance. A total of 3100 km was surveyed and analyzed. After analyzing the survey results, the authors found that about one-third of the international highway is in satisfactory, insufficient, and poor condition. Serious actions are recommended. Maintenance plans should be adopted to improve road conditions in the country.
