Exploring Influences of Regional and Tribal Heritage in Fashion Design and Local Brands: A Case Study of Saudi Arabia
摘要
Saudi Arabia is known for its diverse culture and local customs. There are numerous ethnic groups in Saudi Arabia, each contributing a unique element to the national identity. Different regions have distinct design traditions, such as Najd, Hijaz, and Asir. Fashion design in Saudi Arabia is heavily influenced by ethnic influences, reflecting the country’s rich cultural heritage and diverse regional identities. This chapter aims to investigate the influence of cultural traditions on fashion designs across different regions of Saudi Arabia, focusing on how regional and tribal norms have shaped traditional clothing styles and symbols, as well as consumer preferences for these designs. A semi-structured interview adopting a thematic analysis approach was implemented with ten Saudi designers from various regions. The findings reinforce that regional and tribal norms are respected and represented in Saudi fashion designs and are also reflected in the marketing strategies for new collections.
