Examples of Immovable Cultural Heritage of Montenegrin Mountains
摘要
In Montenegro, which is predominantly a mountainous country, different segments of cultural heritage can be found in the mountainous areas. Especially important is the heritage of the most dominant element of Montenegrin mountains, temporary seasonal settlements–katuns, developed from a specific way of seasonal use of mountain pastures for cattle grazing. Although this segment of cultural heritage is still not formally protected, significant research activities and projects have been implemented in this field in the recent period. This paper focuses on the immovable cultural heritage of katuns which is observed as part of the overall cultural landscape that includes: huts, corrals, outbuildings, cisterns, ponds, religious buildings, cemeteries, roads and paths, as well as intangible practices. The analyses presented are focused on traditional architecture of katuns, especially different types of huts and their development.
