Energy Conservation: A Case Study on Electrical Audits for Sustainable Smart Cities
摘要
Energy auditing plays a vital role in an academic institution toward energy consumption, which manages the energy crisis through conservation schemes. Energy audit research studies are carried out worldwide towards implementation in industry, commercial and residential organizations, with significantly less preference for academic institutions. This work satisfies the above issue by executing an electrical energy audit at dental college with the proposed methodology and suggested the best recommendation for implementation. The wastage audit, preliminary audit, and detailed audit are conducted at the institution with the help of a power quality meter and the planned methodology. The required recommendations are suggested for energy saving at lighting system, fans, air conditioner and compressor and sterilizer with the permissible payback period. The challenges on the local power distribution system are analyzed, and the implementation is inducted to restructure the overall design. The post-audit was conducted and measured the percentage of energy saving as compared with recommendations.
