This article presents a new technique for cooling passenger cars if they are parked in the sun during the day. The heat from the sun is also a source of heat for the cabin. It can also be used to power the cooling system of a car parked in the sun. If a solar panel system were designed on the roof of a car, this energy may be used to control the temperature in the cabin so that it does not become too high while it is parked in the sun. This study presents calculations for the appropriate size of solar panels to be installed to power ventilation fans. The proper flow of air into and out of the cabin helps maintain the cabin temperature within a comfortable range for passengers while parking outdoor. From the calculation results, it is found that the size of the eco-car’s solar rooftop will help keep the temperature lower than the ambient temperature by approximately 1–2 degrees Celsius.
