Enhancement of Sewage Sludge Gasification Through Hydrothermal Carbonization: A Comparative Simulation Study of Syngas Composition
摘要
This study investigates the gasification of sewage sludge and its hydrochar derivatives using a simulation model developed with Aspen Plus software. Two types of hydrochars were prepared from sludge samples with moisture contents of 80% (HC-80) and 90% (HC-90) through hydrothermal carbonization (HTC). The gasification performance was evaluated based on gasification reaction temperature and sludge moisture content. Results show that HTC significantly enhances syngas quality. HC-90 produced syngas with the highest CO (25.70%) and H2 (25.50%) contents, and the lowest CO2 (1.01%) content, with a maximum yield of 4474.67 Nm3/h at 1200 °C. The H2/CO ratio for HC-90 remained higher, indicating superior syngas quality. These findings demonstrate that HTC pretreatment of sewage sludge with higher moisture content is more effective in enhancing syngas quality.
