This chapter examines the situation of academic women in Turkish universities by analysing women’s representation in Turkish higher education (HE) management. We also explore the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the perceptions of academic women on the glass ceiling. The analysis is based on primary data collected twice through an online survey of Turkish academic women before and after the pandemic. We also analyse secondary data to provide contextual background. The research shows that participation of women in HE increased; however, women are still under-represented in senior management. During the pandemic perceptions of the glass ceiling have remained relatively stable. However, an increase in perceptions of authoritarian behaviour among superiors is observed. The study contributes evidence of a continuation of the “glass ceiling”, which can inform future actions to address gender inequalities in senior positions.
