Remineralization of white spot lesions is facilitated by regimented professional application of fluoride varnishes (Professionally Applied Topical Fluoride) and home use of fluoridated toothpastes. Emerging research suggests that topical fluorides alone may be unable to effectively reverse the white spot lesions, unless used in conjunction with other remineralizing agents like Casein Phosphopeptide–Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (CPP–ACP), Functionalized β-tricalcium phosphate (TCP), and Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP). These agents contribute calcium and phosphate ions to the enamel subsurface and are equal players in the remineralization process. This chapter focuses on specific clinical situations wherein products containing CPP-ACP, TCP, and ACP should be used. It also highlights the integrated use of remineralizing agents along with topical fluorides as part of professional and home care use.
