Tests for Gastrointestinal Sensory-Motor Assessment: Mouth, Tongue, Pharynx, Hypopharynx, Larynx, and Upper Esophageal Sphincter
摘要
This chapter outlines the various available tests available to the onco-neuro-gastroenterologist to evaluate the proximal gastrointestinal tract, depending upon the presence and magnitude of symptoms suggestive of proximal sensory-motor gastrointestinal disorder. Some of these tests are not readily available in the community setting and referrals may be needed. A close collaboration with speech therapy services is essential, since many of these studies are performed for diagnosis and therapy by speech pathologists with special expertise in performance and interpretation.
