This pilot study explores university students’ acceptance of the Robot Study Companion (RSC), an open-source, tabletop social-educational robot. Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), we assessed the ease of use and usefulness through two questionnaires administered to ten students at the University of Guyana. Results indicate strong user acceptance, with participants rating the RSC highly in terms of effectiveness, learning support, and ease of interaction. Open-ended feedback highlighted voice clarity, interactivity, and customisation as key areas for improvement. While limited by sample size and brief interaction duration, this study offers valuable user-informed insights to guide future iterations of the RSC prototypes and lays the groundwork for broader evaluation in higher education contexts.
