Robotour: Experiences from an Outdoor Robot Competition
摘要
This paper discusses various outdoor robot competitions, emphasizing their educational and scientific value, and then focuses on perhaps the most advanced of the robotics competitions we are involved in - an outdoor delivery contest Robotour. We highlight the benefits of these competitions, such as the push for technological advancement, opportunities for benchmarking, and the development of practical skills in robotics, engineering, and computer science. The paper describes Robotour rules and goals, and showcases the designs and technical specifications of three participating robots: Smelý Zajko, Slnava and Istrobotics. The authors analyze the robots’ navigation systems and their evolution, focusing on sensor fusion, image processing, and the use of neural networks. Yet, the contest still provides a challenge at a suitable level of difficulty for university or advanced freelance teams.
