L’Aubier began in 1979 with the enthusiasm of two young people who decided to take over a farm in the French-speaking region of Switzerland, and convert it to biodynamic agriculture. Through a collaborative relationship with customers and supporters, numerous additional ventures have emerged over the past 45 years: Today, in addition to the Demeter-certified farm with an on-site dairy, L’Aubier comprises a 100% organic and Demeter-certified restaurant, a bio-hotel with seminar rooms, an organic shop, an intergenerational residential community, an academy and a café-hotel. Solutions for the ownership of a company as well as for the internal organisation have been developed that could serve as models. Supported by over 2000 partners and sympathisers, L’Aubier stands as a pioneering enterprise in associative economics, applied ecology, and innovative social structures.
