Euromaidan
摘要
This chapter examines the role of the Yanukovych government, the Maidan opposition, Russia, and the West in Euromaidan in Ukraine in 2013–2014. The analysis focuses on the mass protests and key cases of violence before the Maidan massacre. The chapter is based on the analysis of various sources, such as online live streams and TV broadcasts, videos, interviews, court decisions, media reports, and public opinion polls. The evidence demonstrates that Euromaidan combined elements of mass protests, a political revolution, a coup, and the US-led regime change, and that the Yanukovych government was overthrown as result of the Maidan massacre, assassination attempts, and the US-led regime change. It suggests that the key cases of violence during Euromaidan were staged or orchestrated with involvement of the Maidan opposition, in particular, the far right. Public opinion polls show that public opinion concerning Euromaidan in Ukraine was split and regionally divided.
