The Manila Chinese Cemetery is a unique repository of Tsinoy culture and identity, with a remarkable mausoleum design that combines Western and Chinese forms (Akpedonu 2016). This architectural diversity represents the hybrid and interconnected nature of the Philippines’ Tsinoy culture, which was influenced by many colonial policies and multicultural movements. Using the combined empirical and descriptive methods, this study sought to conduct a thorough assessment of the cultural symbolism found in various types of mausoleums. On-site trips to the Manila Chinese Cemetery were conducted to visually assess and document the different types of mausoleums that are there. Investigating the different types, sizes, and symbolic meanings of materials and elements present inside mausoleums. Data gathering tools consisting of an observation guide and an interview guide will be used to gather important information from the family or relatives of the dead, essential for the analysis of the anatomy of the mausoleums. Photo documentation was used to capture the significant features and elements of the mausoleums. The result suggests that the intricate design features of the mausoleums in Manila’s Chinese Cemetery are indicative of a confluence of various cultural influences. These buildings frequently blend different architectural forms to produce a distinctive look that represents the rich history and distinctive character of the Tsinoy neighborhood. Every mausoleum narrates a tale of custom, history, and intercultural coexistence through its elaborate carvings and symbolic ornamentation. The anatomy of Chinese mausoleums in the Manila Chinese Cemetery is a remarkable blend of architectural styles inspired by historical, cultural, and environmental circumstances. The Manila Chinese Cemetery’s various mausoleum styles serve as visual representations of the community’s cultural identity, highlighting their historical roots, spiritual beliefs, and commitment to preserving their cultural heritage. The study recommends future similar studies where the economic status of the family will be considered in the analysis of different types of mausoleums and their elements. It is also recommended to conduct a comparative analysis of different types of mausoleums in Manila and those in mainland China.

摘要
