This paper introduces StepIn, a context-aware, decentralized social networking system that provides valuable local services, information, and personalized recommendations to users based on their location and profile within specific locations, such as restaurants, coffee shops, or libraries. StepIn also allows users to share information, and form new relationships within their local community through mobile devices over a local Wi-Fi network. By leveraging StepIn, users can build localized social networks, discover new opportunities, and connect with others nearby, enriching their visits with convenience and satisfaction.
