TotalSegmentator 2D: A Tool for Rapid Anatomical Structure Analysis
摘要
This work presents TotalSegmentator 2D ( \(TS_{2D}\) ), a novel tool for rapid anatomical structure analysis that employs 2D segmentation of coronal projection images derived from 3D CT scans. Using \(TS_{2D}\) , anatomical labels for all major structures can be extracted with minimal processing time, enabling rapid evaluation of both the presence and quantity of structures for screening or visualization purposes. In our evaluation, \(TS_{2D}\) was compared with projected segmentations from the original TotalSegmentator tool ( \(TS_{Full}\) ). Although the two-dimensional approach, due to information loss, shows reduced segmentation performance for soft-tissue structures (0.81 DSC), it achieves competitive accuracy for bone structures (0.90 DSC). Notably, \(TS_{2D}\) reduces inference times to under one second per scan, about \(1\%\) of the processing time required by \(TS_{Full}\) , rendering it highly suitable for large-scale screening and rapid image retrieval applications.
