Focusing on the Pacific Islands, we explore the long relationship between human communities and coral reefs through the lens of archaeology. Building upon multidisciplinary approaches as well as new and emerging methods, we present various ways of reconstructing complex marine socio-ecosystems in the past and highlight the future challenges posed by global climate change.
