The rise of electric vehicles (EVs) in Turkey, particularly in Istanbul, represents a significant advancement in the city’s transition toward sustainable transportation and plays a critical role in reducing carbon emissions. In recent years, demand for EVs has increased markedly. Consequently, the need for reliable and accessible charging stations is also expected to rise. One potential location for new EV charging stations is existing petrol stations, which typically possess the necessary infrastructure to accommodate such installations and are situated in safe and secure areas. This study aims to rank these petrol stations from most suitable to least suitable as potential EV charging station locations within Istanbul's most populated five districts. The evaluation is based on three primary criteria: distance, attractiveness, and demand. The number of available gas stations within each district serves as the alternative for this analysis. A Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methodology effectively ranks these alternatives. Finally, a sensitivity analysis explores various scenarios impacting the ranking outcomes.
