The Dodge and Weave: Trump, the 2024 Presidential Election, and the End of Politics
摘要
Much has been made of the unconventional nature of Donald Trump as a candidate and president. This chapter follows on from research in 2016 and 2020 about how Trump has done all of the viable things to win: he bases his campaign and his messaging around market positioning and utilizes a massive database of voter information that started in 2016. This chapter again analyzes the systematic market research and framing work done by Trump and his advisors in the 2024 election campaign to find, study, and target specific market segments with particular messaging. This will explore not only how Trump has used market research in the design and political positioning of himself and his policies, but also to critically examine the limitations of this approach given Trump’s sometimes chaotic and inconsistent messaging.
