Bion was a later psychoanalytic theorist who was directly influenced by mysticism, including Hindu ontology. This chapter explores Bion’s developmental links to India and how this influenced his own psychoanalytic theories, particularly his ontological concept of ‘O’. Bion’s ideas on the nature of sleep, dreaming and psychosis are discussed and some neuroscientific perspectives are introduced.
