Evaluating ChatGPT and DeepSeek for Science Education: A Comparative Analysis of AI-Powered Learning Assistants

Well known for helping introduce generative AI to the public, LLMs are also of great interest to the field of education, which seeks to integrate artificial intelligence into its various applications and expand its use cases. This paper presents a comparison between the two LLMs, Chatgpt and DeepSeek, in the field of education, focusing on their different applications. Thanks to its sophisticated language processing that promotes a conversational learning environment with interactive speech and instant feedback, ChatGPT is ideal for scientific conversations. However, it struggles with complex inquiry-based tasks, making it unsatisfactory for advanced scientific questions. DeepSeek, on the other hand, offers a solid framework for understanding practical applications through varied textual and visual interactions and is suitable for technical and scientific tasks. DeepSeek is considered very excellent for helping students understand and grasp complex visual concepts in science. Several techniques like DeepSeek’s vision-language model, code generation, and debugging optimization are very beneficial for scientific simulations and in-depth studies. Our paper concludes that teaching will improve and undergo a revolution through the integration of DeepSeek’s search capabilities with ChatGPT’s interactive features.
