In order to merge information management systems, Hassan II University of Casablanca (UH2C) decided to roll out Koha Integrated Library System (ILS) for all libraries so as to provide efficient collective catalog for students, administrative and pedagogical staff. This data migration mainly concerns Mohammedia campus which used a commercial system named Symphony ILS of Sirsi-Dynix. This paper describes UH2C experience in data migration project and justifies the choice of the open-source Koha as the generalized solution for all university libraries ensuring as a result significant cost reduction, source code improvement and independency in terms of licence restrictions and maintenance contracts. The key contribution of this work is addressing the underexplored challenges of migrating data from Symphony to Koha using unimarc format, which is less frequently documented compared to marc 21 format. To this aim, an extensive analysis of extracted data was conducted through a proposed data mapping process to ensure effective information transfer and facilitate the transformation of librarian process. This document also examines the use of Artificial Intelligence tools to streamline the implementation strategy and effectively address the challenges involved in migrating from Symphony to Koha.

摘要
