Education has benefited from the transformations in the technological field. ChatGPT is considered a virtual tutor that allows assistance in the self-management of knowledge in students, as well as in the creation of educational resources by teachers. This study was conducted under a documentary review approach. To this end, certain bibliographic selection requirements were followed in order to achieve a systematization of the main categories to be addressed. Issues related to educational guidance and counseling, the benefits of artificial intelligence in the contemporary context, technological challenges in Latin America, and the importance of paying attention to ethical issues such as copyright, respect for identity, and data preservation were analyzed. The relevance of pedagogical strategies to adapt and contextualize content was highlighted, in addition to contributing to the sustainability of virtual resources in education.
