This book contains extended versions of the works and new research results presented at the 15th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence-empowered Software Engineering (AIESE2024, formerly Joint Conference on Knowledge-based Software Engineering, JCKBSE), University of Piraeus, August 27–30, 2024, Greece. AIESE is a well-established biennial international conference focusing on the application of artificial intelligence in software engineering. The 2024 edition featured a strong and diverse program, including 19 peer-reviewed papers, 6 distinguished keynote speeches, 3 state-of-the-art tutorials, and 1 panel discussion on the ethical and regulatory challenges of AI-empowered autonomous software. The accepted papers addressed a wide range of current research topics such as Artificial Intelligence-Empowered Software Engineering in intelligent system architectures, user modelling, human-machine interaction, knowledge-based engineering, AI-driven testing and validation, and intelligent educational technologies. Submissions came from multiple countries, with Japan and Greece leading in participation. All contributions underwent rigorous review by at least two independent experts. The result is a high-quality volume reflecting the latest advancements and challenges in the field. This volume captures the present momentum of AI-empowered software engineering and reflects the ongoing advancements in the field. It also lays the foundation for the future of the AIESE conference—honouring its legacy under an expanded name while embracing emerging trends and innovations at the intersection of artificial intelligence and software engineering, through a perspective that is both much needed and distinctly original.
