As artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly evolves, establishing clear regulatory frameworks is essential to ensuring its responsible development and deployment. The European Union’s AI Act represents a pioneering effort to regulate AI while upholding fundamental rights, ethical principles, and the Rule of Law. However, the regulation is met with both praise and criticism. On the one hand, it introduces a much-needed structure; on the other, it risks being either too vague in some areas or excessively detailed in others. A key concern is its complexity and potential redundancy, as existing legal frameworks might already offer sufficient regulatory tools without necessitating a separate regime. Additionally, uncertainty surrounding AI’s future trajectory raises questions about the regulation’s adaptability. This concluding chapter critically examines these issues, reflecting on the broader implications of AI governance and the ongoing need for regulatory flexibility to balance innovation with legal and ethical safeguards, based on the very insightful considerations shared by the authors participating in this book.
