Solid deposition process is a family of AM processes in which solid materials are used as a feedstock and brought as a solid to a point on or near a platform before they are converted into a desired shape. Feedstocks in the form of powder, wire, and rod are used. To transform the feedstock, energy is required, which comes from a beam (laser, electron, plasma), arc, heater, friction, or motion.
