Beam Deposition Process: Advantage and Disadvantage
摘要
The process has advantages as it uses a beam that can make fine features and parts having high accuracy. But, beam has disadvantages: it is not absorbed by many materials, is energy-inefficient, is unsafe, etc. Since the purpose of the beam in this process is to melt, the melting gives the following disadvantages, such as large grain size, generation of porosity, cracks due to thermal expansion mismatch, hot cracking, etc.
