When an upright cylinder is deformed by tilting it sideways while keeping its base fixed, the shape of its layers changes from a circular disk to an elliptical disk. The elliptical disk does not have an upright but a tilted boundary. This is a problem. Because all layers in AM have an upright boundary, they do not allow their boundaries to match the required tilted boundary.
