Differentiation and Inclusive Approach in Teaching Activities from Higher Education. Using Gamification in a Constructivist Teaching-Learning Context with Gifted Students
摘要
The future of education in the twenty-first century is linked to the quality and diversity of educational opportunities. The organization and support of teaching methods requires imagination, creativity, and innovation. In this regard, the most useful materials are Open Educational Resources (OER), as they are considered to have several advantages: The digital format allows for reuse, sharing, adaptation, and redistribution for educational settings other than the original one (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development—OECD, PISA 2018 draft global competence framework, 2015). Curriculum design in higher education (HE) responds to the current need for differentiation and involves designing the curriculum according to the needs, abilities, and real expectations of the beneficiaries. Differentiation defines a framework of analysis that emphasizes the importance of subject knowledge in curriculum design. In this context, design can be seen as “the process of meaningfully constructing and linking the components of a curriculum so that fundamental questions such as what needs to be taught, how and why, what resources are needed and how learning should be assessed are clarified” (UNESCO-IBE, Glossary of curriculum terminology, 17, 2013). This chapter aims to answer two research questions: What are the effective ways of differentiation and integrative approaches to the curriculum in universities? What is the importance of using gamification in differentiating the teaching and learning of gifted students? The results of the analysis can be used to improve the efficiency of differentiated and inclusive curriculum development mechanisms at the education system level.
