Multimode systems are an efficient tool in organizations’ endeavor of efficiency, productivity and competitiveness, as they have a crucial role in ensuring an uninterrupted production under normal or degraded conditions. This article presents an important research domain for industries seeking to thrive in an increasingly complex industrial world. Despite the existing contributions on multimode systems found in the literature, the researchers have identified a significant gap in addressing the transition between the different schedulers of a multimode system when a failure occurs. The primary objective is therefore to address the previously identified gap by proposing a formal modeling framework using the theory SLDS (Switched Linear Differential System). The effectiveness of the proposed framework has been validated through an example of a multimode production system where considerable emphasis was placed on gluing conditions, as they establish the necessary parameters for maintaining continuity before and after the switch. These results present significant implications in studying multimode approach since each mode is associated to a specific scheduler, making it crucial to handle the transitions between these schedulers effectively.

摘要
