Optimal Patient Distribution Enforced by Blockchain
摘要
We consider patients in a city who need emergency hospital care and are distributed across city hospitals using an ambulance service \(\mathcal{A}\) . Patients come from all areas of the city and are categorized depending on the type of care they need to receive. A patient’s hospitalization and transportation costs obviously depend on the health care he or she needs. We propose a method to optimally distribute patients so that the total cost to be paid to \(\mathcal{A}\) and hospitals is minimized, while respecting their capacities. A pricing model is also developed to determine fair amounts of payments to hospitals and \(\mathcal{A}\) . The suggested patient distribution and payment protocol is imposed by a smart contract executed in the blockchain. The interest of using blockchain technology is that it guarantees that patient transport and hospitalization, as well as payments, follow established rules and are recorded in the blockchain in a secure, immutable and fully decentralized manner.
