This paper reviews the 20-year history of What if?, a widely used planning support system (PSS) in the field of intelligent urban planning and management. It reviews the literature on and features of several What if? PSS versions and reports on an online survey of What if? PSS users. This research concludes by analysing users’ experience with the What if? PSS, and considering the implications for the future development of PSS.

摘要

This paper reviews the 20-year history of What if?, a widely used planning support system (PSS) in the field of intelligent urban planning and management.
