This paper introduces “Manchita”, the first version of a gamified learning environment powered by Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance engagement and participation in learning. The system integrates Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques to automatically answer learners’ questions in an interactive, conversational manner. Additionally, our environment enables educators to develop interactive questionnaires utilizing various gamified strategies. By incorporating elements such as narrative-driven challenges, scoring mechanisms, and streak-based games, our online learning environment fosters increased engagement. Initial testing with students and educators indicated a positive impact on learning participation and satisfaction.
