This chapter explores how Roberto Gerhard and Otto Mayer-Serra played key roles in introducing the aesthetic and political principles of Neue Sachlichkeit to interwar Catalonia. Drawing on Gerhard’s experiences in Berlin with Schoenberg, Eisler and Weill, and Mayer-Serra’s flight from Germany, the chapter examines their influential writings in Mirador and their promotion of “applied music” and Gebrauchsmusik. While their efforts marked a significant point of cultural transfer, the broader impact of Neue Sachlichkeit in Spain remained limited, hindered by dominant French-influenced aesthetics, conservative institutions, and the absence of a strong leftist musical infrastructure.

摘要
