Performative Art at New York Tech’s School of Architecture and Design explores the intersection of architecture and performative art through three innovative projects, embodying the creative, fluid nature of design education. This chapter details how New York Tech SoAD has redefined traditional architectural exhibitions into interactive experiences that engage participants directly, showcasing a transformative approach to architecture through process-oriented exhibits and multidisciplinary collaboration. Each project exemplifies adaptability, merging architectural practice with sustainability and social engagement. The Italian Pavilion at the 2021 Venice Biennale pioneered exaptive design, adapting spaces for resilience. The 2023 “Students as Researchers” Biennale exhibit highlighted academic research as an agent of environmental and social change, while the “Future by Design” showcase at Milan’s Salone del Mobile demonstrated sustainable, interactive designs on various scales. Together, these case studies underscore SoAD’s commitment to rethinking architecture, advancing its capacity to foster resilient, adaptable communities for a changing world.
