This chapter develops an overview of the Brazilian situation regarding access to Internet through the following matters: number of subscribers across different categories; affordability of services; type of technology being used; gender gap; urban-rural gap, international commitments; strategy for expanding the Internet access; participation in institutions; telecommunications regulations in the country; access to the spectrum for data transmission; and financial resources.
