Teaching Ubuntu Information Systems Ethics Using Bloom’s Taxonomy
摘要
There has been interest in the ethical aspects of the Information Systems (IS) discipline since the 1980s, and ethics training has been included in many IS curricula for many decades. However, not much information is available on the teaching of African ethics in IS. The research question is: How can the IS curriculum be amended to introduce Ubuntu IS ethics? The aim is to provide an African perspective on the teaching of IS ethics and to show how it presents an opportunity to nurture undergraduate students’ critical thinking skills. Following a conceptual approach, principles and guidelines are proposed. A three-dimensional model of African IS ethics tuition provides a practical tool in generating course content and assignment questions. The paper contributes to the IS field by amending the field of IS ethics using Ubuntu constructs.
