This chapter explores how online far-right collectives and political organisations utilise environmental aesthetics to further their ideological agendas. These groups employ syncretic strategies, drawing on countercultural influences to craft idealised visions of both a mythologised past and a technologically advanced future. While positioning themselves as defenders of nature and tradition, their environmental narratives often expose contradictions, particularly in their reliance on global supply chains and digital infrastructures that contribute to the very environmental degradation they claim to oppose. White nationalist forms of tradlife media illustrate this paradox, promoting ethnocultural homogeneity, rural self-sufficiency, and anti-modern lifestyles, yet remaining dependent on the industrial and economic systems they critique. Similarly, digitally active political organisations like CasaPound Italia engage in performative environmental acts, such as rubbish collection and tree planting, to project an image of ecological responsibility. These gestures reinforce ultra-nationalist narratives while diverting attention from the systemic drivers of environmental harm, including corporate exploitation and neoliberal economic policies. By highlighting these contradictions, this chapter examines how far-right movements appropriate environmental themes in ways that obscure their reactionary agendas and broaden their appeal to receptive audiences.
